Things to do

  • Water related activities A host of water-related activities await you at Huntington State Park. A boat-launching ramp provides access for all types of watercraft. Camping, picnicking, swimming, photography and watching wildlife are popular activities. Service roads around the reservoir provide you with two miles of scenic hiking and jogging trails.
  • Fishing Particularly noteworthy at Hunting Reservoir are largemouth bass. Some good bluegill fishing also can be found here. Crawdad fishing is popular, especially with the children. Visit our fishing page to learn about other fishing opportunities in Castle Country. Utah law requires anglers to purchase permits. • Ice Fishing & Winter Sports When the ice is solid Huntington Reservoir is open for ice fishing. Anglers pull rainbow and brown trout, large mouth bass and bluegill fish out of the lake. Just a few minutes away are the Manti-LaSal Mountains and many winter sports. Though the park is open in the winter, facilities are not.
  • Bird Watching In the winter bald eagles, golden eagles, ducks and geese grace the Huntington Reservoir. Bird watchers come to sit on the bank and watch these birds in their habitat.
  • Nearby ATV sports Off-highway vehicles are not allowed to unload in the park. However it is the perfect base for ATVing. A 10-minute drive west takes you to an outstanding mountain riding area.
